If I rent, can I still apply for any of your programs? Yes. The weatherization program is available to tenants as well as homeowners, as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. The program is free of charge to the renter, though the landlord is asked to pay 25% of the total cost.

I am a landlord. How much do I pay towards weatherizing my rental properties? Not all landlords do as much as they should towards maintaining a safe and healthy rental properties. By working with NHS of South Buffalo to insulate and weatherstrip your property you are making a sound investment and increasing tenant stability. Landlords like you are only required to pay 25% of the total cost. If you are personally income eligible for the weatherization program, the entire upgrade is free.

Why do I have to bring my financial information to my counseling session?During your counseling session, the counselor will work with you to complete a monthly household budget. The counselor uses this information to help determine how much you can afford to pay for you house payment, as well as to develop a spending and savings plan. For homeowners who are behind on their mortgages, lenderw sill ask for this information before they will approve a workout.

Do you have to pull my credit report?Yes. A tri-merge credit report with scores will be pulled for every individual durign their initial counseling session; there is a fee of $25.00 for this service. Clients receive a copy.

Do I have to live in South Buffalo to use your services?The only programs with South Buffalo residency requirements are the Home Repair Loan and Commercial Facade Loans.
