To aid and assist in the preservation, stabilization and revitalization of economic and aesthetic conditions of residential and commercial zones as to promote a higher quality of life and social existence.

Our Story

NHS South Buffalo is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the aesthetic and economic conditions of our neighborhoods. We are one of the oldest non-profits working within the city of Buffalo, and have helped countless residents over the last 30+ years.

Much of the work we do involves weatherizing homes through the Weatherization Assistance Program. Most of Buffalo’s homes were built long before energy prices skyrocketed and they were not produced to be particularly energy efficient. Through the Weatherization Assistance Program, we provide the money needed to help income-eligible individuals weatherize their house- increasing efficiency and lowering heating bills.

We also provide money and services to help perform emergency home rehabilitation work on your property. We help income-eligible individuals perform the home rehab work that their house needs to correct health and safety violations.

In addition, we provide a variety of counseling services for individuals in need. We offer Foreclosure Counseling, Reverse Mortgage Counseling, Credit Counseling and Home Ownership Education Counseling. Our counseling programs are dedicated to keeping you in your home, getting your credit back on track and helping you make intelligent decisions about when is the right time for you to buy a house.
